Spring Football Practice Starts

The Razorbacks will start spring football practices tomorrow. Tyler Wilson will act as starting quarterback with Ryan Mallett still recovering from his broken foot. The practices will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of each week concluding with a Spring Scrimmage on April 24.

Mallett Favorite For Heisman

Ryan Mallett is a popular favorite for the 2010 Heisman. He had an excellent sophomore season after sitting out for a full season since he transfered to Arkansas from Michigan. Mallett led the SEC with 3,624 passing yards and 30 touchdowns last season, both Arkansas records.

Coach Petrino and the Razorbacks will return a mature team with newcomers that will provide talent and depth on the defensive side of the ball, which was Arkansas's weakness in the 2009 season. The Razorbacks should start the season in the top 20, and their schedule is more favorable than the previous year's.

Mallett is currently recovering from a broken foot, but he should be back and primed for the start of two-a-days. He'll sit out of practice during the spring so backups Tyler Wilson and Brandon Mitchell can get some quality practice time in.
